My Studebaker
My Studebaker is one of a very few of its type in Australia. I purchased it for $50 in Sydney in 1964. In 1975, I drove it right across Australia to Perth (2,600 miles), see pics, where it was used for a year as daily transport. It is now undergoing replacement of all the floor timber and roof (see below), and interior trim.
The roof will be reconstructed of ash overlaid with wire netting, padding and canvas. The position of the right-hand-side doors is shown. If the roof is not perfectly shaped and precisely bolted at the door pillars, the doors will not open and close properly. Typical of vintage cars, the woodwork needs careful crafting of compound curves. It was necessary to buy a bandsaw to cut the curved siderails and rafters. Stay tuned for a series of progress photos which I will be placing here soon.
